When Skystripes opened her eyes everything was blurry. She was on her side in the middle of a clearing, surrounded by undergrowth. She gave her head a quick shack and her surroundings became clearer. But only a little. Skystripes heaved herself to her feet and tried to take a step, but pain shot through her body. She looked herself over. She saw what she should have saw before, a huge gash cut her side and one of her hind paws was bloody. Her whole body began to shake. She laied back down on her side and tried to clean her side. But every tongue stroke caused her more pain, even so she continued. After her side was done, she turned to her leg, which hurt even more. Skystripes could see how bad everything was. Her side wasn't as bad as it had looked before, the cut wasn't deep enough to cause permanent damage, but her leg was another story. For the first time she noticed that her lag was at an odd angle, and there was another cut. It started at her thigh and went down to her paw. How did she get that?
Skystripes was tired, but she couldn't go to sleep yet, her cuts need to be medicated. Skystripes parted her mouth and took in all the scents. About a dozen rabbit hops away she could smell at trickling stream, and near it she could smell the faint scent of Garlic. She heaved herself up on heavy paws and, making sure to keep her injured leg off the ground, she hobbled forward. The short walk took a lot more effort the Skystripes had anticipated. But she could see the shoot of Garlic. She would have rathered used Horsetail, but there wasn't a scent. She chewed the Garlic into a pulp and smeared it on the two cuts. Then she looked around for another thing. She found it not much further then the Garlic. Between two rock there were some cobwebs. She rapped them up and placed them over the Garlic and on her wounds. Without the strength to go further, she slumped down and fell into an uneasy sleep.
The fox sprang at her, Skystripes quickly dodged out of the way, and got into a position to strike. But the fox was too fast, it bit her back and threw her to the ground. She got up a ran toward at tree. Skystripes used the tree as a spring bored and launched herself at the fox. She hit it square in the head. Skystripes landed lightly on her paws and spun around. Both her and the fox were beginning to pant. But the fox throw its self into a run. Skystripes jumped barley missing the fox's teeth. Again she landed on the fox, bringing it down. She jumped off of it and put space between her and the fox. It was slowly getting back to it's feet. Then it made a snarling noise and another fox came bounding in. This one was a female. Two against one. The female fox came at her, Skystripes jumped, but the fox grabbed her leg and threw her down. She hit her head and everything went black.
The next time she woke, she could feel herself being drug across the bottom of the forest. She could feel something gripping her leg and the pain was unbearable. Everything went black again.
Skystripes head shot up. She could hear pawsteps, they were light and balanced. Skystripes tried to get to her paws, but fell back down. "Who's there?" she called. Her voice wavered.
