This is the VERY beginning of the site. In order to understand it, then you have to read this. NO POSTING HERE!! make a thread about it in the short story board. Enjoy...
Sarel sat on a tall stone building. It was in a forest and had long since been abandoned by the Twolegs. His black pelt rippled with strength as he lifted a single paw. His mate was inside of the castle as he called it, giving birth. The best healer had been called to help with the kitting. Sarel was sure that he would be able to have them back in time. But alas, no healer had arrived or anything of the sort. Anxiety rose and clawed at the ancient and powerful cat. He could do anything he wanted. He was the Ruler of the Forest. No cats could stop him and they all respected him. But for all of his power, he couldn't save his kitting wife. Sorrow filled him to the brim and he was near ready to scream and cry and whatever else.
He could hear her soft screams as Niere tried to shield her mate from the sounds. She couldn't succeed. But he was at least feeling happy she was attempting something. Sarel turned his head as he heard the soft patters of paws running across pavement. Apparently the cats had arrived.
The Ruler's silver gaze rested upon his trusted messenger, Lizith, and he saw that the tom's gray pelt was matted with blood and other substances. At the moment, he wasn't worried at all in the least about Lizith. He was purely worried about Niere. He could just see her white body in agony. He didn't want to, but he could. And this hurt them both.
There was a cat that came up the steps behind Lizith and Oblivion raised an eye at both of them. "Who is this? Is this a healer? Will she be able to save them," he asked roughly, not caring who was offended.
"I am a healer yes. My name is Lunar. Is your mate in there," the brown she-cat asked. Sarel nodded and moved aside, letting his gaze drop down. Lizith sat and waited for the results. He turned his green eyes to his master and tried to reassure him, but nothing could do that other than seeing his mate walk out with their kits.
Inside of the cave, Niere was screeching. She felt bad that her mate had to hear her in pain, but he insisted on being there. The white she-cat's blue eyes cried out in pain as she felt multiple urges at once. On one paw, she wanted to give up because her body hurt so much from the way the kits had began to come. On the other, she wanted to fight harder. Her kits and mate needed her to fight harder. She was mother. It was her job.
The Queen turned to look at who was entering the den. Another she-cat had come in. She was a brown tabby and she held a strong and stern black gaze. The cat's eyes almost scared the laboring Queen.
"Who are you," she asked.
The reply that came was what soothed Niere's nerves. "I am a healer. I'm here to help you my Queen. How long has this been going on? The kitting I mean," she asked. Her voice was soft and comforting. It made Niere almost relax completely.
"It hasn't been that long. Maybe about an hour or two. But the pain keeps coming in waves and it hurts so bad. I just want to AHHHH!" As she was speaking the white cat felt squirming and then blood leaked from her.
The healer rushed over to her, and glanced back and forth between the Queen and her kits' soon to be birthing place. "I don't know if you know this already, but you've been bleeding an awful lot. I am worried. I can't give you any poppy seeds, but here are some cobwebs. I wil dab them to prevent more bleeding." As she spoke, the healer began to stop the bleeding even though she knew it was too late. These kits might make it, but the Queen was done for. She couldn't tell her that it was too late though. She would still try to save them all. At the very least, the kits could live right?
